It All Starts Here

Let's start at the beginning. Basically, we met years ago, in the winter of 2002, when we both were students at Colgate University. We became good friends pretty quickly, but after about a year and a half, we lost contact with each other. We went our separate ways until March of 2007 when we reconnected and revived our old friendship. We have spent the better part of the last year planning our trip around the world, and we are now just over a month away from taking flight. We couldn't be more excited.

Our original plan had us leaving January 1, 2008, but real life, as it often does, interceded. After much planning and deliberation, we were able to decide on a departure date that worked for both of us: March 28. We need to get back for Snow's graduation, so we'll be returning May 15, mere days before the ceremony. We've got a concrete route all set up and everything. Our journey will take us first to Amsterdam, where we will be for two days, followed by Cairo for eight days. From there, we'll make our way to India for five days, and then swing through various parts of Southeast Asia for the next three weeks. We'll then Stop in Japan for a few days to visit our friend Amanda. Then, back home to the states.

This is probably the only time we will both be able to take a trip like this. After this, life will throw so many commitments at us (school, careers, etc.), that we are convinced that it's either now or never. We're excited about stepping out of our comfort zones, our lives, in fact, and experiencing the world in a brand new way. Our lives can only be enriched by this trip. We hope you have as much fun following along on this blog as we hope to have on the trip itself.
