Your Travel Suggestions Here:

We have had an outpouring of support, love, well wishes and suggestions and have decided it would be best to get the suggestions in an organized section of the blog. We have, of course, been doing lots of research on our own (see essential bathroom reading), but your first hand knowledge, suggestions, comments, and cautions will of course help us along the way. Anything and everything is much appreciated. So here is a list of the place we plan to visit.

Amsterdam, Netherlands
Cairo, Egypt
Alexandria, Egypt
Mt Sinai, Egypt
Dahab, Egypt
Delhi, India
Agra, India
Calcutta, India
Bangkok, Thailand
Phuket, Thailand

Hi guys, this trip sounds incredible. I'm going to go through my books and see if I can come up with any good japan resources, but I'm sure Sumon has a list of things he wants to do again. Anyway have a great trip and if I can think of anything I'll send it over.

Chazu!

Certainly, ING is on the list. And that should cover Kyoto. There wasn't anything else there, right? If there is, I don't remember it. Probably because of how much I was going to ING.

Also, through us, you now have a reestablished connection to our old Study Group friend Amanda. We're bringing the world together, buddy!

OK guys,
First, a general travel resource http://wikitravel.org/en/Main_Page

Now, about traveling between Kyoto/Osaka and Tokyo:
1.If you DON'T want to see Tokyo and just need to get to the airport, flying could be good.
2.If you DO want to see Tokyo (which I assume and recommend) flying seems inconvenient to me. Options:
A.I always take the bullet train because it is fast and convenient, but it is expensive. (about $130 one-way)
B.Regular trains are not cheap (about $80 one-way) AND they take like 10 hours.
C.The overnight bus is about $50 one-way and takes 8 hours, obviously overnight.

I think you should wait to buy tickets when you are here, that way you can make your decision based on how much money you have and how tired you are.

Let me know if you are interested in seeing more of Japan and if you will need a place to stay in Tokyo. Then I'll give you info about rail passes and hostels.
See you soon!

I just went to Tokyo for Spring Break and I thought I'd let you know about the hostel I stayed st, I really liked it: http://www.sakura-hotel-ikebukuro.com/index.php
They have other locations too. You could get two beds in a mixed-gender dorm-style room for 60 bucks. I'll do more research on the internet cafe option in case you want cheaper than that!

2. overnight bus to tokyo and train to airport: 8500 Yen
3. overnight bus to tokyo, one night in hostel and train to airport: 11,000 Yen
4. bullet train to tokyo and train to airport: 16,000 Yen
